About
As the founder of Yellow Specs Design, Jessica —Jess to her friends and colleagues— recognized that a unique visual perspective required her first to deeply appreciate the nuances of individual needs. Her design process begins with empathy and is grounded in a personalized contextual understanding.
Today, Yellow Specs works with a range of design clients, from local startups to national companies including Aquinas College, Bridgestone/Firestone and Servpro. Jess has formal training in the process of “Design Thinking” from Stanford’s d.school and facilitates workshops for schools and businesses in the Southeast.
Jess earned a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She serves as the Department Chair for the School of Graphic Design at O’More College of Design where she helps young designers develop skills needed to set the pace for the future of design. When she’s not teaching classes, Jess spends time painting and volunteering with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
